Have you ever noticed how many cocktails are named after animals? Whether you fancy drinking a Hair of the Dog, a Road Runner or a Moscow Mule, an Elephant's Day Dream or a Flying Grasshopper - there must be an animal cocktail recipe which piques your interest as well as your taste buds!

Here we go for a whistle stop tour of the cocktail "zoo" with a selection of recipes inspired by our furry and not so cuddly friends in the animal kingdom ...

Amarula Coffee

Amarula Coffee A dark and rich blend of vodka, De Kuyper Cherry Brandy with cranberry juice and cola. Easily made by building the ingredients in a glass half filled with cubed ice and stirred well. The intense flavour of De Kuyper Cherry Brandy is well balanced with the cola and cranberry juice and smoothness of the vodka. A feline cocktail of grace and elegance!

Amarula Coffee

Amarula Coffee A sumptuous cocktail made with 3 key ingredients - Amarula Cream, De Kuyper Crème de Cacao Brown and vodka. Mix all the ingredients together in a blender with crushed ice and serve in a large tumbler or hurricane glass. The resulting cocktail is an indulgent concoction of the exotic flavours of the marula fruit spirit base of Amarula Cream and the intense chocolate overtones of De Kuyper Crème de Cacao Brown.

Amarula Coffee

Amarula Coffee A brightly coloured mix of gin, De Kuyper Triple Sec, Warninks Advocaat, orange juice and soda. Again simple to make by building all the ingredients in an ice filled glass, stir well and topped up with soda water. The rich texture and essence of vanilla in the Warninks Advocaat is an ideal blend with the zesty citrus flavour of De Kuyper Triple Sec and orange juice - enhanced by the dryness of gin, topped up with soda water.

Amarula Coffee

Amarula Coffee Cowabunga! This cocktail most likely inspiration is the overwhelmingly popular of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the late 1980's onwards. Take a trip down memory lane with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael to make this vibrant green concoction. Using only 3 ingredients - De Kuyper Blue Curaçao, gin and orange juice - begin by building the ingredients into a hurricane or highball glass half filled with cubed ice and stir together well. For a striking garnish, slice a star fruit and fix it to the rim of the hurricane glass.

Amarula Coffee

Amarula Coffee This refreshing long cocktail is perfect to cool down with on a hot day. Easily made using vodka, De Kuyper Crème de Menthe Green and lemonade - all you have to do is build these in a highball glass over a small amount of ice and stir gently. The vivid green colour and fresh essence of mint with the lemonade and vodka make a simple yet ideal combination.
