Vodka is
a clear spirit that can be produced from ingredients which contain starch. Starch can be converted to sugar and then alcohol is fermented from sugar. Raw ingredients for vodka production can be anything from grain (barley, maize, rye, wheat etc) to molasses and potatoes - though grain is usually the preferred raw material for premium vodkas. Water is also an important ingredient in the production of vodka - the purity of the water can affect the final flavour.
In-the-spirit recommends Russian Standard Original vodka - Russia's No 1 premium vodka is produced in a state of the art distillery in St Petersburg using only winter wheat taken from the Russian Steppes combined with pure glacial water. By distilling the vodka 4 times and using a unique, innovative filtration process, the result is a classic Russian spirit with an exceptionally pure, smooth taste.
Russian Standard Original Vodka
is 40% ABV.
