De Kuyper Cup 2008: Terms and Conditions

1. The DE KUYPER CUP 2008 MASTERS OF THE MIX shall be organised by the De Kuyper distributor in the participating country in accordance with these rules and regulations. The UK heat of the De Kuyper Cup 2008 is being organised by First Drinks Brands Ltd - the distributor for De Kuyper in the UK.
2. The competition is open to all professional bartenders in the UK.
3. Each competitor shall submit one recipe on line via www.in-the-spirit.co.uk to be received by the end of Tuesday 1st July 2008. Entries will receive acknowledgement that their entry has been received by e-mail.
4. The recipe must be an original creation of the competitor.
5. The alcohol content of each recipe has a minimum of 50% De Kuyper product(s). No other liqueur brands are permitted.
6. In addition to the De Kuyper products, one spirit (vodka, rum, tequila, cachaça, gin etc) may be used from a third party.
7. The maximum number of ingredients that can be used is seven.
8. The time limit for preparing the cocktail is ten minutes.
9. Recipes should be created using the ingredients shown on the attached list of available ingredients. If a competitor prefers to use other ingredients than those named on the list, the competitor is responsible to provide these ingredients him/herself. The list also details which glasses will be available for preparing the cocktails at the final. The cocktail theme for the De Kuyper Cup 2008 is: “Your night starts here”.
10. The competitor is allowed to use his own bar utensils to prepare the cocktail.
11. On line entries will be validated as per the above terms and conditions. DE KUYPER ROYAL DISTILLERS and First Drinks Brands Ltd reserve the right to reject any competitor, recipe, ingredient or recipe name considered questionable or unacceptable
12. After validating all entries, the panel of judges will arrange for the recipes to be made up as per the competitor’s entry details in order to select the top 15 entries. Cocktails will be judged based on appearance, aroma, taste and motivation/creativity. This round of judging will take place by 7th July 2008 and the chosen 15 finalists will be notified by e-mail as soon as possible afterwards.
13. To compete in the UK heat of the De Kuyper Cup 2008, the 15 finalists must be available on Monday 21st/Tuesday 22nd July when the UK heat will take place at De Kuyper Works in Schiedam, near Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
14. The 15 finalists will be required to make up their cocktail recipe in a competition environment and cocktails will be judged based on appearance, aroma, taste and motivation/creativity.
15. De Kuyper Royal Distillers/First Drinks Brands will cover the costs of travel expenses to/from a specified departure point in the UK, any accommodation and board for the duration of the event, plus any transfers to/from airports whilst in the Netherlands for the 15 finalists. Extras such as bar bills, room service, phone calls home etc are not included.
16. The overall winner of the UK heat will then win the chance to represent the UK at the international final of the DE KUYPER CUP 2008 MASTERS OF THE MIX in Schiedam, The Netherlands on 25th September 2008.
17. All decisions of the panel of judges are final.
18. All entries become the sole property of De Kuyper Royal Distillers.

4. The recipe must be an original creation of the competitor.
5. The alcohol content of each recipe has a minimum of 50% De Kuyper product(s): no other liqueur brands are permitted.
6. In addition to the De Kuyper products, one spirit (vodka, rum, tequila, cachaça, gin etc) may be used from a third party.
7. The maximum number of ingredients that can be used is seven.

9. It is suggested to create a recipe using the ingredients named in the attached list of available ingredients. In case a competitor prefers to use other ingredients than named on the list, the competitor is responsible to provide these ingredients him/herself. The list also details which glasses will be available for preparing the cocktails at the final.
10. The competitor is allowed to use his own bar utensils to prepare the cocktail.
11. Winners of the DE KUYPER CUP 2008 MASTERS OF THE MIX in the participating countries will be invited to participate with their winning cocktail in the final of the DE KUYPER CUP 2008 MASTERS OF THE MIX in Schiedam, The Netherlands on 25th September 2008.
12. The final in Schiedam, the Netherlands will take place in seven rounds of three competitors preparing five portions according to the recipe.
13. In the final, the cocktails will be judged based on Appearance, Aroma, Taste and motivation/creativity and in the case of a tie, overall impression (scoring based on the IBA scoring).
14. The competitor’s recipe with the highest score wins a Trip to the Caribbean for two including pocket money.
15. All decisions of the jury are final.
16. DE KUYPER ROYAL DISTILLERS and its distributors reserve the right to reject any competitor, recipe, ingredient or recipe name considered questionable or unacceptable.
17. All entries become the sole property of De Kuyper Royal Distillers.
