De Kuyper, the UK’s number one cocktail liqueur range distributed in the UK by First Drinks Brands, has launched a new and unique cocktail competition for the mainstream on trade. The De Kuyper Mix Factor competition 2006 was open to mainstream bars, bar chains and pubs nationwide with a prize fund of £2,000 and a chance to take part in the International De Kuyper Cup in Holland. The first heats took place 13 March (London) and on 20 March (Manchester) where contestants were asked to make their cocktails in front of a panel of judges. Four from each heat were chosen to go through to the final, which took place at Tiger Tiger in London on 24 April. Heat Winners Gustaf (London) and Ryan Woolaston (Manchester) each received a cheque for £500 and went on to be runner up and third place respectively in the London Final. The overall final winner was Elliot Gould of Peachy Keen in London&ls Kentish Towl with his Kiss and Tell cocktail recipe. As overall winner, Elliot received a cheque for £1,000 plus an all expenses paid trip representing the UK in the finals of the International De Kuyper Cup cocktail competition in Holland on Tuesday 30th May.
